I've decided to start a new blog over here....this one was getting a bit old...I no longer ONLY scrap and I wanted to do something different to show the different things I'm working on at any time....

Yep, thinking about scrapping again. My mother stole the pedal for her sewing machine I borrowed - how rude lol - so now I have nothing to do. I showed a friend a few LO's today and thought about maybe possibly maybe doing a few more. Will see how I feel this weekend. I sort of have mojo, so it *could* happen I guess.

Right now it is so hard for me to scrap...finding the time whilst working 5.5 days per week is just about impossible. I decided today that I'm going to pack all my scrapping supplies into the cupboard (still easily accessible) and set up my sewing machine and associated supplies and start sewing some christmas/birthday gifts for later in the year....if you know of any great sewing websites, let me know!

The weather here today is so weird. It started raining last night, I woke up to sunshine this morning and decided to go shopping. So I finished shopping, go out to the car and its wet...I've just gotten home and I have SIDEWAYS RAIN!!!

We have a patio out front, which is about 3 metres wide - and the windows are wet. And as I type this, the sun has just come out.

Yep, I fell off the face of the earth!

Seriously though, alot has been happening - some good, some bad.

Here it is in point form:

* New job!

I have a new job...its ALOT closer to home (like 5 mins instead of 35 mins) and I'll be working with the same age kids as I was. I finished up today, and already miss *my* kids...they really are soooo sweet. One of them gave me a cake, a hand scribbled card and a kiss and said "Love you and miss you Dee"...oh how I love him...brought tears to my eyes. I'll definitely go back to those kids for visits. Or, if I hate my new job, I'll go back and bang the doors down until they let me back in!

* PT and physio

Still doing lots of training to strengthen my knee. Physio says he can feel the difference and he's happy with the progress. I haven't been to the gym in awhile, but go back tomorrow. I'll be doing a weigh in and measure, so fingers crossed its paying off.

* Study

Ok, so I'm not studying .... YET. I've applied for a position to the diploma in childcare, as its currently offered for free to existing childcare workers. I'd only have to pay for course materials, so its a pretty good opportunity.

* Car hunting

Yep, we're going through the buying process again! I don't really like my little car - I feel unsafe in it. After having a pretty horrendous experience with a car accident in a bigger car, I don't want to be stuck in a little car. So we're going to buy a big bad-ass four wheel drive....ok, so not that big lol. But it will need a big bad-ass bullbar *lol* just so people don't get any ideas about any more head on collisions with me :D. We want to do alot more camping in areas that aren't so populated. With a 4wd we can head off road and find little camp grounds out in the boonies that not many people know about....

* Cooking

Stews, soups, biscuits, muffins, scones....you name it I've made it! I've been hit by the cooking bug...I've made alot of slow cooker meals lately and they are soooo delish in this cooler weather. They are definitely my comfort food - luckily they're full of vegies! Can't really say that about all the fattening sugary foods I've been baking though...hmmm....

*Knitting

I'm in the process of teaching Beth to knit. I'm not having much luck - anyone know of an easy way of explaining it to a 7 year old who has the attention span of a gnat??? So Beth is knitting a sparkly hot pink scarf, and I'm making one in shades of caramel, off white and chocolate...mmm...chocolate.....

* Adam

He's all good. Was pretty sick last week so was home all week, but he's fine now. He's trying to get me on the motorbike and, well, it just aint gonna happen. He's borrowed a helmet for me (which fits perfectly) and now he's nagging and nagging for me to get on. Truth is, I hate the idea of having absolutely no control. That, and the fact I was injured all over in a car accident...what on earth would I be like if we had a bike accident??? Pfft, nope he can have his motorbike all to himself.

*Beth

Is fabulous...such a gorgeous, caring little darling. Drives me absolutely bonkers with the incessant chatter - my mum says I was the same. I wouldn't have her any other way though...shes just so sweet. Every night when Adam was sick, she made him a card and wrapped a little something in paper for a present and left it on his pillow. His favourite gift was a button she'd found. Sweet. She's doing well at school, and her reading has improved dramatically in the last 2 weeks. She's definitely more inclined towards maths, like her dad. She loves doing the activities in her book, rubbing them out and doing them again and again and again and........................

Anyway, I think thats about it...I haven't really been scrapping much. The mojo kinda took a hike. I did a few layouts and a dozen or so cards to stockpile last weekend, but nothing is photographed as yet. I'm sure I'll get to it one day....

I joined a comp over at Wicked Princesses - a 7 deadly sins kinda thing, where each week we're set a different challenge.

This weeks challenge was vanity....had to create a layout that was purple monochromatic, had the title "all about me" and have bling. This is what I came up with. I didn't use a regular purple, as its a hard colour for me to scrap, so I went a more plum shade instead.

For extra points, we could do a card, which was purple and had the sentiment "celebrate you"

So this week it is ENVY...an all green and black layout. Yep, the mind is ticking over....

Thursday....and about time.

The week has gone so slowly - probably because its my first week back at work after my little holiday. It's been quite a good week, but would be better if I was still on holidays :D My kids have been awesome...or maybe its because I'm more tolerant - I'm not sure which.

I had a PT session yesterday. He upped all my weights from last week, but the funny thing is, I'm nowhere near as sore. Except for my stomach muscles, I can feel that I do actually have some of those! I can feel all the muscles we worked but it doesn't hurt. I wonder if that will mean that I won't hurt after doing a pump class. I'm planning to go back today and tomorrow after work, doing a combat class on saturday and pump on Sunday. We'll see what happens I guess. I really do have no idea why I haven't seen a PT before...it really does make all the difference. I know I wouldn't push myself as hard as he does!

So thats it...nothing else has really been going on. Back to work, back to no life!

Ok there's alot here!!! These first few are some cards I made.

This one I've made for this months inkurable stampers challenge using their colours - orange, black and white.
This one I made for the card sketch over at Wicked Princesses ...

But I decided I liked this one better...

I made this LO for Sara's sketch challenge over at Mystical...I liked the sketch as it was nice and simple - great for keeping the focus on the photo.

I made this one for the sketch over at wicked princesses....wasn't too happy with how it turned out...no clustering...hmmm...

I love this one of my niece...she'd just finished sucking on the end of a bottle of tomato sauce and was pretty pleased with herself.

And another of the gorgeous Miss A....loving that whale spout hairdo.

Finally, one of my own daughter....she was 3 or 4 when it was taken on a weekend away.

This is Beth's birdhouses...she pretty much did it all, I just did all the cutting with the knife. She's so chuffed with herself. She kept saying "mum, I need to bling it up!" Don't know where she gets that....

These two are layouts of Beths she did today. She got 2 done in the time it took me to do nearly one...future scrapper you think?

Today we did some baking....we made vanilla cupcakes using the magnolia bakery recipe. Super delish! The icing is sugar icing, which was rolled out....we then used a roller stamp from stampin up to make the flourishes in the icing....so pretty!

Lunch was home made sushi rolls! Tuna, carrot, avocado and mayo - YUM! We used this new device to help make them...think I still need some practice though!

We have some plans to make pizza for dinner, using our yummy pizza base made of SR flour and greek yoghurt...mmm....pizza!

How sweet are these pics? I took them easter Sunday - we just never seem to get many pics of us with Beth. I know Adam looks a bit like a criminal, but well, it was Sunday and I'd dragged him out of bed and into the garden, so I guess he's excused!

This is a pretty typical photo...Adam playing the fool, and Beth looking like she's saying "I swear, we're not really related!"

Busyness

Yup, its been busy here!!!

We were up and out the door early this morning - headed for some scrap shopping at two stores. We discovered Flourish Studio - a fantastic little (ok, big) shop with so many great lines and TONNES of paper. Even Beth loved it! The other store which is nearby (I won't mention names)...well, that lady was SOO rude!!! We walked out without buying a thing. I have no idea how that business survives if thats how she treats her customers....

Anyway....

So after scrap shopping (and many $$$ later) we headed to the movies to see Monsters vs Aliens. It wasn't as good as I was expecting, but it was still pretty good. Beth wants the dvd to add to her collection. We had a fun girly lunch and shopping afterwards.

As soon as we walked through the door, Beth decided she wanted to do this row of birdhouses from Scrapware that we bought on our shopping expedition...so we digged out our scraps and set to work...it looks pretty good for the work of a 7 year old. Will post pics tomorrow if its not still too cloudy.

We rented out some movies and have grand plans for a movie day tomorrow. The kid has 2 and I have 2...so it will be a fight for who gets to see theirs first.

I have a PT session at the gym (yes, I still am sore from pump yesterday!) then physio afterwards which will hopefully alleviate the soreness from training.

I spoke to my specialist/surgeon today about my knee, as its still giving me grief. He has recommended that I resign (which I knew) from work, or drop my hours to part time. So I've decided to bite the bullet and drop my hours. So I'm now looking for work which doesn't involve me kneeling or crouching or sitting in little chairs for 8 hours a day. If anyone knows of anything, please give me a tingle!!! If dropping my hours doesn't help, then I'll just outright resign and look for something more suitable...not what I wanted to do as I love my kids...but...if its what I have to do to avoid surgery, then so be it. Anyway, better run and organise dinner!

Today I went to the gym in an effort to undo the chocolate damage I did yesterday....I did a pump class for the first time EVER, and while it was really good (like, I can still feel my arms shaking kinda good) it wasn't too great for my bung knee. My physio is working with my personal trainer to develop a program for me, and my only restrictions at this point are the exercise bikes (including the spin bikes, thank god!) and the step class. If I do combat or boxing I just have to avoid the kicks.

So yeah....every muscle in my body kinda hurts right now. Imagine tomorrow...hmm. I think I'll do some cardio only and alot of stretches, so I'm not too sore for my physio and PT sessions on Wednesday. I'm just hoping with all this pain will come a gorgeous, slimmer back end ;)

In other news, I'm participating in the Mothers Day Classic this year on mothers day to raise money for breast cancer. As most of you know, my mother in law was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, so it is something I feel I really really want to do. I figure I'm willing and able to give up a morning of my life to try and raise funds to improve the lives of so many women out there. If any of my Brissie girls want to join me, drop me a line and let me know!

So I now have no hair.

Ok well, thats a slight exaggeration. I now have blade 3 hair. Very short blade 3 hair. Last time I had hair this short I was a baby. I feel like a boy with boobs and curves. But you know what? It's only hair...it will grow back. And hair on me grows fast. Very fast. About an inch (ish) a month, give or take.

Lucky I shave my armpits and legs huh?

I do have photo's BUT they're still on the camera. The batteries are dead so I can't upload...and some bright spark (me) packed the battery charger....duh. No idea where it is either.

So anyway....I'll get Adam to take some pics on my phone and I'll upload them that way.

Today is the day I get my head shaved - and I'm excited!!! My SIL is doing it at 3pm...I feel kinda nervous/excited already. I just want to go over there now, but she probably crawled into bed at 4am so probably not a good idea. I can't wait to start wearing the bright, colourful and funky bandannas I've made....lets hope they suit me!

Anyway gotta run...still lots of packing to do and next weekend is the move.

Yep today I turned 29 years old. Everyone is giving me a ribbing, telling me I'm nearly 30 blah blah blah....but so what. All the people who are giving me a ribbing are over 30 to a big :p to them!!!

Not doing much today...some scrapping and sewing...I've done a bit of cleaning....MIL is coming over a bit later. We're going out tonight but its all hush-hush. Just between you and me, I know where we're going :D

I've exceeded my personal goal ($100) for the Leukaemia foundation. The woman I work with told a few parents, and some have come up and said they would sponsor me. Most of the girls at work are too.....So I'm already up to $125 and most of the girls still have to pledge something still, so its going really well. Friday has rolled around again....so time for some faves!

1. My new ribbon storage box thing....

I really must share a pic! Its shoebox size and has a bazillion little holes you poke the ribbon through. I've only managed to half fill it and I have TONNES of ribbon!

2. Shave for a cure

Yep, thats right I'm shaving my head for a good cause. A few of the girls at work are going to as well, so I'm heading to spotlight next week to find some funky fabrics to make some bandannas for us all. You know, so we don't scare the kiddies! What a day. All my kids were little psycho's, I swear *lol*

I think they have been planning it for weeks to be honest....just lots of chaotic-ness and unwillingness to listen. Tomorrow *should* be better with only 1 new child, so the tears should be at a minimum.

One thing incredibly cute...one of the kids has been wanting "Dee cuddles" all day, and when he wants one, he says "Dee piccy up?"

So sweet.
