Friday faves!

Friday has rolled around again....so time for some faves!

1. My new ribbon storage box thing....

I really must share a pic! Its shoebox size and has a bazillion little holes you poke the ribbon through. I've only managed to half fill it and I have TONNES of ribbon!

2. Shave for a cure

Yep, thats right I'm shaving my head for a good cause. A few of the girls at work are going to as well, so I'm heading to spotlight next week to find some funky fabrics to make some bandannas for us all. You know, so we don't scare the kiddies! Leave a comment if you'd like to sponsor me and I'll forward you a link where you can donate to my team securely online.

3. Chocolate

It has been my saviour this week - and every week for the past month! Work, upset kids, cranky kids....need I say more?

4. Holidays

Coming up in exactly 5 weeks I'm having a week off work. I'm taking the four days after easter off to spend with Beth - and hopefully dogsitting my friends puppy, a golden retriever named Cleo....she's so cute!

5. The internet

I can't say how grateful I am to the internet and the information posted with the wide world web. I know alot of it is crap....but it has been SO handy with researching lawyers and things lately - especially when it comes to my knee.

Okay...thats it for the week! Happy weekend everyone. Hopefully I'll be back soon with some layouts!

25 February 2009

Oh boy...

What a day. All my kids were little psycho's, I swear *lol*

I think they have been planning it for weeks to be honest....just lots of chaotic-ness and unwillingness to listen. Tomorrow *should* be better with only 1 new child, so the tears should be at a minimum.

One thing incredibly cute...one of the kids has been wanting "Dee cuddles" all day, and when he wants one, he says "Dee piccy up?"

So sweet.

Middle of the week

....and about time!!!

Its only Tuesday and I'm already worn out! Work has been so full on with sick kids, kids injuring themselves, parents asking silly questions, staff members not pulling their weight....and just to top it off, we're facing accreditation and they could be out as soon as next Thursday. Great. Not that we're not ready or anything, I just hate people standing over my shoulder, judging what I do.

I had physio yesterday....he was being nice (mostly). He was quite gentle really, after I told him I'd had a bit of pain over the weekend. He taped me up and sent me on my way, saying that the pain was most likely my knee cap flopping around more than it should. The tape helped, so maybe that was it. Going back Friday morning, which will be my halfway point! *happy dance!* I'm going to talk to him then about a referral to a specialist and an order for an MRI just to get it all moving along. I'd have to wait several weeks anyway to the appointment for both so may as well book it earlier rather than later. My boss is being so great about it all - I told her I'd need time off for these appointments and she was ok with that...at least I know she won't be giving me a hard time about it. I guess she knows the last nearly 6 months have been a hard time.

Am hoping to get some scrapping done this weekend. I haven't scrapped in nearly 2 weeks now - which hasn't happened in a long time! I need to drop next months DT layouts into OSS ready for the reveal, and I also need to pack. I've also got a stampin up party saturday arvo, so the time spent with the girls will be a welcome distraction....not to mention all the yummy goodies I plan on baking.

Anyway....I really should be off to bed. At 8.24pm its way past my bedtime *lol* Kidding, but I am always in bed by this time, winding down for sleep.

Happy mid week everyone!

Time out

Yesterday we'd just had enough....enough of the packing - so we decided to get out of the house for the afternoon. We went out for a drive up to Redcliffe, as thats the area we're looking at moving to. We enjoyed some potato chips (mmm Bega cheese) on the beach, then a little bit later some takeaway near the big swimming lagoon there. Afterwards, we went for a paddle. Even though it was about 6pm, the temperature of the water was just beautiful!

On the way home we stopped for ice creams. Yum!

We were home by 7.30pm but I had a shower and crashed early....

Friday faves

Okay so its not something I usually do....but hey, I feel inspired to do something different this morning. I know I know its Saturday morning...but I got home late last night :D

#1

Sweet kisses from my kids at work.

Yesterday, one of my kids (my bosses grandson) was leaving with his dad....I said "see ya fletch" using his nickname. He turned around to me, I crouched down and he reached over, grabbed my face in both his hands and planted a big, wet. slobbery kiss on me.....I so love that kid!

#2

Meeting the girls after work

Went out last night after work...it was a horrid day (you know, like the days where you want to quit?) and I was going to go home, but stuck it out and am SO glad I did...lots of laughs of the cheek hurting variety.

#3

Chocolate cheesecake

I don't know how I would have survived yesterday without it. Thanks to Jodie, who celebrated her birthday yesterday!

#4

Mocktails

Soooo I can't drink...and when everyone else is drinking, whats a girl to do? Ask for a lovely strawberry mocktail in a fancy glass, of course! Yummmmmm!

#5

Sales...more specifically, Pumpkin Patch sales

I went and spent a BIT of money at the sale yesterday after work...and OMG how I love their clothes!!! Beth has been growing so much lately, and all her winter pants wont fit so off I go shopping. I love that their pants have elastic at the waist, meaning I can buy her long pants that fit the legs and don't fall down!

Anyway, thats it for now....

20 February 2009

2 down, 6 to go

Physio sessions that is. I started on Tuesday, which was quite painful as it was my first session. I ended up bruised and soooo sore :( Then I had my second session yesterday afternoon, which was better. Not as sore, but more bruising. It is making life a little difficult at work at the moment, but hey, if it helps me avoid surgery then I'm all for it. So I've got 6 more sessions over the next 3 weeks. He said if he can't have my knee perfect at the end of the 4 weeks, then I'll be off to a specialist for further testing etc....he also said high probability of needing surgery, based on where it hurts, how long it has been numb and swollen and also the kind of impact it was....(think of me - who is no featherweight - travelling into the dash at 70kph then coming to a dead stop)

So yeah....I'm cautiously optimistic....this guy worked miracles on me last time.

Please please everyone who reads this, cross your fingers and hope I DON'T need surgery!!!

In other news....I have a life :D

Yeah yeah I know, normally I'm a home body who is totally and utterly boring BUT I'm going out with the girls from work tonight after work...how exciting. Its just down to the local pub (local to work that is LOL) for a few drinks and dinner, bosses shout. We're also celebrating a birthday at work today so its kind of a combined celebration. I'm actually looking forward to it!

Have a fab friday!

Score!

Yesterday I arrived home to a biiiiig parcel waiting for me! After a bad day in which I and all the kids suffered monday-itis, it was nice to come home to it.

In this biiiiig parcel was a Cropodile big bite 2....all for the grand price of about $23. Can't complain there....I have grand plans for this baby!

Have a great day everyone!

Couch to 5k running - week 1 day 1

I started this program yesterday. It starts off with a 5 minute warm up, then alternating 60 seconds jogging with 90 seconds of walking to a total of 20 mins.

Today I'm so sore....I did take it easy admittedly, as I don't want to stuff my knee any more than it already is. I thought I'd stretch each week out to 2 just to make it a bit easier and let my body work up to actual jogging.

I weighed in on Saturday, another 0.5kg loss. I wasn't really that happy, but then realised a loss is a loss and thats all that matters...so that makes in 4.8kg total now. My WW friend and I agreed to work our butts of (literally) to try and lose 5kg by easter. We're going to start walking to our meetings (1 hour round trip for me) as well as meeting one afternoon each week for a power walk. Hey, its a start. So that, combined with doing my C25K three times a week should see some serious kilos shifting soon.

If anyone reading this has any stories on the program to share, would love to hear about it!

Layout

This is a layout I did for Kirsty's sketch over at Wicked Princesses . Thanks Kirsty for the cool sketch.

I've used papers from Sassafras Lass which I received from WP during the sale, along with some Basic Grey cardstock stickers and some older Sasslass....lots of kindyglitz, although you can't really see it.

Thanks for looking!

The smell of clean

Ok so my house is far from clean....but I've just swept and mopped the floor and I tell you what, the smell of clean is through my house. I can't wait to have a clean house again, but unfortunately, that won't be happening again until AFTER we move house in 1 month's time. Ugh.

So I'm just taking a break...still half in my jammies, waiting for the floor to dry so I can actually go downstairs to the laundry to hang the washing...guess I should've left myself a little pathway to get through... ahhh well.

Maybe I should go scrap instead.

13 February 2009

What the?

What is with the weather???

Monday was quite hot, with a top of 34 degrees....tuesday was a little cooler, but very muggy....wednesday was cooler again, but still muggy...yesterday was breezy and just really nice. Today its been pouring, its windy and its cold! So we've gone from having 34 degree weather to 21 degree weather in 4 days...meanwhile, its flooding up north, there's a heatwave in Perth and well Victoria...well all know whats happening there :(

Its all just gone haywire!

12 February 2009

Another one...

So after a sleepless night (sick - ugh) followed by maxalon and a nap this morning, I'm feeling alot more human. So I sat down and I scrapped this layout for Bad Girls

Ta for looking.

Project shares....*warning* image heavy post!

I've been a busy little beaver lately.....

I made a little card holder folder thingy....this is the inside, where I popped in a couple cards...

....and the outside, which is all decorated.

....and here are the 2 cards I made...I'll make a few more over the next week or so. It was all made from 2 pieces Kaiser paper, 1 sheet Bazzill and a few little extras.

I loved this photo of Beth so much, so decided to do a bright and funky layout to match. There's lots of texture and layers in it, which I just love!

Shock horror! A layout of me....just me!!! I had a great time using all these fun papers from Sasslass and mixing it up a little with some bright, bold accents.

This is a project I've been wanting to do for quite awhile...and I had lots of pink paislee goodness so thought I'd do this lamp shade!!! Love that its so bright and funky....I just need to find a base for it to use in my scrap area.

And finally some piccies of Beth we took at the beach on the weekend. She got a haircut last week, so what better excuse for some MORE pics!

She was deep in thought, sitting at the table doing some activities in a book while Adam was fishing.

Anyway, thats it for now!!!
Bye!

Scary stuff

It's all happening for my friends and family down in Victoria. Huge fires raging across the state....entire towns destroyed, lives lost and lives ruined.

At last check, the death toll was at 65 (expected to rise in the coming days and weeks) and over 700 homes wiped out. I can't imagine how these people feel, to have nothing but eachother. I guess at least they have eachother.

I just can't imagine how they feel.

To all my friends and family down there....be careful and stay safe.
